Bird’s Eye Cove Farm Winter Wedding

Anna + Nick's Winter Wedding at Bird's Eye Cove Farm

The perfect winter wedding day…

Anna and Nick’s winter wedding day at Bird’s Eye Cove Farm has been a long time coming, not just because they’ve been together since high school! Their original 2020 wedding day was rescheduled to a full year later due to COVID. Although it was sad to postpone, in the end December 4, 2021 was perfect and intimate. It was so much fun capturing the celebrations. Lucky for me, Riley, the couple’s sweet pup, joined in for getting ready photos and a few portraits.

The proposal

When I shot Anna and Nick’s engagement session at Westwood Lake in Nanaimo a year ago, they told me their adorable proposal story. On a road trip, they had pulled up to Lake Louise for a walk. Upon seeing how busy the parking lot was, Nick was worried the lakeside would be packed with people. This wasn’t ideal because he was secretly planning to pop the question to Anna! In a slight change of plans, he proposed in the car in the Lake Louise parking lot which made for a more intimate (and slightly less anxiety-inducing!) moment.

Bird’s Eye Cove Farm

Bird’s Eye Cove Farm is one of my favourite venues on Vancouver Island. Although I’ve done shoots there before, this was my first time shooting a full wedding day. It did not disappoint! There are so many different backdrops (mountains and a peekaboo ocean view, forest, grassy fields (and pampas grass!), a beautiful reception building, rustic barns, cows and farm animals). There were so many backdrops that we couldn’t even utilize all of them in our portrait time. (This means that I am already dying to go back there again soon.) Whether your preference is quintessential Vancouver Island views or more of a rustic vibe, this venue has it all.
