Nanaimo Newborn Session at Piper’s Lagoon

Baby J's Beachy Newborn Lifestyle Session

I loved getting to do this snuggly newborn lifestyle session in Nanaimo on the Piper’s Lagoon beach! We lucked out with the most incredible golden hour.

It’s always the biggest honour getting to capture newborn photos for a couple whose wedding I photographed! I first met Josh and Erin a few years back for their engagement session on Chesterman Beach in Tofino (they even got in the water for some surfing shots afterwards… that session needs its own throwback blog post soon!). Later in 2018, I captured their intimate camping wedding at French Beach Provincial Park (it was one of my first weddings on Vancouver Island and it was particularly magical!). Recently, they shared with me that they had welcomed their new baby girl, Josephine, to the world in 2021. We got together for newborn photos on the beach at Piper’s Lagoon on a gorgeous Spring evening. Baby J’s grandmother even joined in for a few portraits too, and to lend a helping hand.

Josephine was a bit past the newborn stage by the time we did this session, but that turned out to be perfect – she was so interactive and loved to stare right into the camera. As you’ll see in these photos, she was very interested in checking out that thing making the click noises! Her mama and dada are clearly so proud and the whole time we were all marvelling over how cute this little bean is, and I think you will agree!
