Throwing it back again today to September, to Julia and Blake’s wedding day. Together with their closest family and friends, and their cattle watching nearby, they shared handwritten vows in their backyard.
I didn’t cover the getting ready portion of the day, but I gave myself time upon arrival to capture some detail shots of Julia and Blake’s beloved farm all dolled up for the wedding. Hours of work and love went into decorating the barn (where the reception was held) and the yard (the ceremony site) in the days leading up to the wedding. The cattle watched me curiously through the fence while I clicked away and even posed for a few shots!
During their ceremony, the couple shared vows they wrote themselves. Blake told Julia: “You are my sun, my rain, my wind, and my soil,” and by that point there wasn’t a dry eye around.
After taking their portraits around the farm with their cattle and donkey, we headed to the barn for an amazing dinner and speeches. Fun fact: this was the first wedding I brought my drone to (I believe it was my third flight) and although I almost hit a hydro pole, I am happy to report I didn’t crash it or injure anyone! I’ve had lots of practice since then but Blake and Julia’s drone shots are still some of my favourites (featured on the landing page of this website!).
Congrats Blake and Julia!!
